(Display Name not set)August 2007 Archives
As requested by Neko from my Blog.reset(); posting, I'm reposting the Ragnarok Online animated cursors for Windows that I created a few years ago.

Pictured is just a sample of some of the icons in the package. Click here to download ro_cursors.zip, enjoy!
I recently read some rumors that RO was coming to the DS, that would be sweet! I haven't played in a long time, but I'd check it out again on another platform!

Amy and I had been talking marriage for a while now, and decided to make it official during our recent trip to Florida. I asked her to marry me at Silver Springs in Florida on Saturday August 11th, 2007. She said "yes" :)
Here we're standing in the spot where I got down on one knee. It's suppose to be a "lucky palm tree" that's grown with a loop just over the deck we're standing on. It's said that if you have your picture taken in it you'll have five years good luck. Hopefully our luck compounds since we're both in the picture. I'll report back in five to ten years.
We're still talking about what we're going to do for rings. We both wear Claddagh rings which we bought for each other last Summer. We may continue using those, or we might get something else, we're still considering it. The placement and direction of the rings on your hand has different meanings. On the left ring-finger with the heart out means you're engaged.

Right now we're planning on a May or June 2009 wedding date. The extra time is to help Amy concentrate more on graduating from The University of Wisconsin than on planning for a wedding.

On our first night in Florida Amy and I decided to head over to the Shuttle launch, which was quite spectacular. But the show wasn't over in the first few minutes, indeed it took several hours for another beautiful spectacle to emerge: noctilucent clouds caused by the Shuttle's exhaust.
I took several pictures, but this was the clearest. Taken slightly before 9:00 PM EST on Wednesday August 8th, 2007 over Cocoa Beach, FL.

This one's for my friends Ryan and Kristy (and their brood) who live in Johnson Creek, WI. On our return flight we passed right over their house and I was able to take this picture of the quickly expanding town.

As some of my readers may know, I work as a web developer for Jellyfish.com, the home of Smack Shopping™. Shortly before leaving for our Florida vacation (which I'll blog about later) I worked on a "Smack in the Box" widget which allows people to quickly show the current Smack Shopping™ deal on their own website, much like this:
As with many projects I've had the pleasure of working on here, this one was both educational and fun. If you'd like to add one to your own web page, sign-up for Jellyfish.com and then go to the Smack in the Box Widget page.
Never heard of Jellyfish.com before? Well we're a social comparison shopping engine that shares cash back with you. On top of that we have the "Internet's First Live Game Show" called Smack Shopping™, which is a reverse-style auction of some of the hottest products (iPods, Xboxes, etc...) out today, with games in between deals for prizes. We have a fun community, if you do sign-up, be sure to drop by my shoppers page (my nickname is Platypus) and drop me a line.

Amy and I had our first rummage sale last weekend. Well, it was my first rummage sale, her family has one nearly every Summer. After finally going through the many 18-gallon totes (I had over 40 of them) in the basement, sorting them, throwing away the junk, we ended up with a sizable amount of things I just didn't need anymore. We had 3 tables of stuff, and the rest of the driveway was pretty much full of larger items that could be placed on the ground. Saturday's sale went great, we sold about half of everything and pulled in around $150. Sunday we sat outside for nearly four hours reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and nary a soul stopped by to peruse our wares. Around lunchtime we decided to pack it up, put the small stuff in the car and took it to GoodWill, the larger items to be sold on Craigslist.org later we stuck in the garage. I think if we do this again we'll probably only have the sale on Saturday, and we'll advertise a bit more.
